Bangladeshi Worker Killed in Crane Accident in Malaysia

Jashore, Bangladesh A 35-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate, Roni, tragically lost his life in a crane accident in Malaysia’s Seremban city on Saturday morning, according to his family.

Roni, son of Mahmud Sardar from Baguri Beltala village in Kayba Union under Sharsha upazila of Jashore district, had been living and working in Malaysia for the past two and a half years.

According to family sources, Roni worked in the construction sector, aiming to provide for his loved ones back home. The local community is grieving over his sudden death.

A fatal crane accident claimed the life of Roni, a 35-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate, while he was working at a construction site in Malaysia’s Seremban city on Saturday. The incident occurred around 10:30am Bangladesh time when a crane’s chain reportedly snapped, crushing Roni under the heavy equipment. Roni passed away immediately after the incident.

Co-workers at the site informed Roni’s family in Bangladesh shortly after the tragic incident.

Kayba Union Parishad Chairman Altaf Hossain confirmed the news, stating, “Roni had been working in Malaysia for the past two and a half years. We were deeply saddened to hear of his untimely death. We urge the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment to take immediate action to repatriate his body.”

Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Najib Hasan assured that the local administration will extend full cooperation to the family and coordinate with the relevant ministry to ensure the body is brought back to Bangladesh promptly.
